Claiborne Strives To Be Dominant

Claiborne continues to pitch well

MOOSIC, Pa. – When Preston Claiborne enters a game, no matter the situation, he has one mindset – shut it down. The right-handed relief pitcher, who's in his second season with Triple-A Scranton, has had different roles throughout his career from setting up to closing in his first year to long-inning relief man in the past couple. But no matter the "role" he's given, he knows what he has to do.

"The name of the game is going out there and getting outs," Claiborne said after recording his second save of the season April 23. "Roles are just titles. Whenever I'm pitching, I just try and get 1-2-3 as fast as possible." Claiborne began 2012 with Double-A Trenton, his first season at that level. In 30 appearances with the Thunder he went 2-2 with a 2.22 ERA, struck out 49 batters in 48.... Recommended Stories
