After last week’s ranking and stats analysis that focused around on-base percentage (OBP), it is now time to turn our attention to slugging (SLG= Total Bases/At-Bats), which measures a hitter's power. This statistic has roots as far back as 1954, when Branch Rickey suggested a formula to be called "extra base power".
