Closer Lives Up to Pre-Draft Hype Premium Story

In the 27th round of the 2006 draft, the Blue Jays selected a right-handed closer from the University of San Francisco. Patrick McGuigan, born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, was not on the radar of many clubs, because he was viewed strictly as a closer, but the Jays knew the type of arsenal he possessed and nabbed him. In his first season of pro ball McGuigan lived up to the making.
