LaCava in Running for Cards Gig

Tony LaCava, the highly touted Director of Player Personnel for the Blue Jays, is being sought after by the St. Louis Cardinals.

It’s the second time in two months that LaCava’s name has been mentioned with an open General Managers position. Many thought LaCava was going to land in Pittsburg before the Pirates decided to go in another director. Now, with the St. Louis position open LaCava’s name is being mentioned about again.

“I’m not sure if the Cardinals are looking internally or externally to fill the position, but if they want to go outside the organization, Tony will be on top of their list,” one executive with Major League Baseball told InsideTheDome Friday evening.

The Cardinals have yet to ask the Blue Jays for permission to speak with LaCava, although that is expected to occur shortly.
