Read this exclusive interview with 16th rd pick Kevin Ahrens only on InsideTheDome.com. Find out more about the infielder, if and when he expects to sign, his thoughts on joining the Jays and much more.

InsideTheDome: Did you anticipate being selected by the Blue Jays and in this round?

Kevin Ahrens: They came over in the fall and the spring. They were one of the more aggressive teams to contact me. We've had about three visits in the past couple months.

InsideTheDome: Are you going to accept the offer?

Kevin Ahrens: I haven't had much time to think about it, just 45 minutes or so, but it's something I will have to discuss with my family and I hope to decide in the next couple days.

InsideTheDome: Will you consider playing college? Were you offered any scholarships, if so where?

Kevin Ahrens: I haven't had a chance to think about it yet. It probably won't be that hard of decision. I have signed with Texas A & M.

InsideTheDome: Why do you think you will be an asset to the Blue Jays?

Kevin Ahrens: I think I fit that organizations needs. I'm good enough. I have the desire to play hard. I'm really looking forward to it I've always liked their organization.

InsideTheDome: What are you most looking to improve on offensively and defensively as you enter pro-ball?

Kevin Ahrens: I'm a switch hitter I want to get better from the left side. Also my speed and getting faster, because I've heard talk of wanting to convert me into a third baseman because I'm too slow for shortstop, but I want to prove that I can play that position.

InsideTheDome: Who in the majors would you compare yourself to? They're saying Chipper Jones would you agree?

Kevin Ahrens: The first time I heard that, I thought this is great they're comparing me to Chipper Jones. And the more and more I thought about it, we do a lot of the same things, we are both switch hitters and I might eventually be moved to third. He'll probably go down as one of the greatest switch hitters in history, so it is quite an honor.
