Manchester, NH – SS Manny Mayorson singled home LF Aaron Mathews from second in the bottom of the ninth inning as New Hampshire rallied for a 4-3 victory Sunday before 6,391 at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.

With the game tied at 3-3, Mathews led off the ninth with a single to extend his hit streak to eleven games. He went to second base on a sacrifice bunt by RF David Smith off of losing pitcher RHP Chris Smith (0-1). CF Dustin Majewski was intentionally walked before the game-winning hit by Mayorson (2-for-5) off reliever Mike James.

The Fisher Cats (7-5) had taken an early 1-0 lead on a home run by SS Sergio Santos off Portland starter RHP Charlie Zink.

Portland (5-5) came back with two runs in the top of the fifth off New Hampshire’s LHP Ricky Romero. CF Jacoby Ellsbury singled home the runs to put the Sea Dogs up 2-1.

New Hampshire tied the game with two runs in the eighth inning on a two-out double off the wall in right center by Santos (2-for-3, 3 RBI).

RHP Tracy Thorpe (1-1) worked a perfect ninth to earn his first win for the Fisher Cats, who earned a split of the four-game series with Portland.

The homestand continues Monday night with the first of four games with the Binghamton Mets at 6:35pm. LHP David Purcey (2-0, 0.68) starts for New Hampshire against Mets LHP Ricardo Morales (1-0, 2.25).
