Jays Sign Kyle Phillips

InsideTheDome has learned that the Blue Jays have signed catcher Kyle Phillips to a minor league deal.

Phillips was in uniform and in camp yesterday playing for the Dunedin Blue Jays. Phillips went 1-for-2 with a home run, and two runs batted in, while also drawing a walk.

Phillips, who will turn 23-years-old on April 3, batted .236 with 3 home runs and 35 runs batted in last season with Brevard County (Florida State League).

The left-handed batter split time in 2005 between Fort Myers (Florida State League) and New Britain (Eastern League). He batted .230 with 2 home runs and 32 RBI in 83 games at Single-A and .209 with 2 home runs and 8 RBI in 22 games at Double-A.

Phillips was released by the Milwaukee Brewers organization on March 24.
