Lilly Informs Jays He Will Move On

The agent for Ted Lilly informed the Blue Jays this afternoon that his client will not sign with Toronto.

As InsideTheDome reported earlier this morning, sources close to Lilly were beginning to sense he wanted the Yankees or the Giants to step forward and pursue him.

In an afternoon meeting with J.P. Ricciardi, the agent for Ted Lilly, Larry O'Brien told him that Lilly informed him he wants to move on and does not want to sign with Toronto.

Sources close to Ricciardi say that the General Manager got that feeling last night, and knew Lilly would not be going back to Toronto.

The Blue Jays remain the favorites to sign Gil Meche, and a decision is expected later today on that front.
