Day 2 Wrap- Meche Likely to Decide Wednesday

Multiple baseball officials were under the impression that free agent right-hander Gil Meche will be making his decision on Wednesday after sleeping on all his offers. InsideTheDome first reported Tuesday afternoon that the Blue Jays, Cubs, and Royals were the finalists to acquire Meche.

"Greg Landry, his close friend and one of his agents, told him Tuesday evening of all the offers on the table," said one source. "Gil is expected to sleep on the offers and then make his decision after Landry meets with all the clubs one final time."

Meche is currently leaning towards the Toronto Blue Jays offer, which is believed to be worth approximately $32-36 million over four years. The Royals are also reported to have made a "very competitive offer."

Sources close to Meche believe he wants to sign with the Cubs and play under his former manager Lou Piniella, however, Chicago was focused more on getting a deal completed with Ted Lilly.

"It's going to come down to Wednesday," said a baseball official. "Teams will make their final offers, and Meche will decide." Recommended Stories
