Yates has been the best pitcher in the Fall League this year as he leads all pitchers in ERA and strikeouts.
The 23-year-old is 2-0 with a 1.13 ERA over six outings. In 24 innings, he has issued 19 hits, just 6 walks, and has fanned 25 batters.
Yates is excited about the chance to start this big game, but is not going to change anything.
“There isn’t anything specifically that I would like to work on,” Yates told InsideTheDome. It’s nice as a player to finish strong at the end of a season. I just want to be able to execute and
give our team a chance to bring home the championship.”
Yates has not allowed a run over his last two starts, spanning 10 1/3 innings. Over his last three starts (14 1/3 innings) he has issued just one walk.
The right-hander will head back home after this start and rest his arm for what is expected to be an interesting 2007 campaign at Triple-A Syracuse.
