McGowan Ends Year on High Note
McGowan not only bounced between Triple-A and the Major Leagues this past season, but he also bounced between the starting rotation and the bullpen. He appeared in twenty-three games with Syracuse – starting thirteen of them – and went 4-5 with a 4.39 ERA in 84 innings. McGowan also notched 27 innings with Toronto, and went 1-2 with a 7.24 ERA in sixteen games – three as a starter. The Blue Jays decided to send McGowan to the Arizona Fall League and he pitched well in four of his five starts. His only bad outing was his second appearance. He walked five batters, and allowed six runs in two innings. If you remove that outing he allowed just fourteen hits in seventeen innings, while issuing four walks, and striking out sixteen batters. "Dustin completed his season last week on a high note," said Dick Scott, the Blue Jays Director of Player Development. "He has pitched enough for this year and we look forward to next season."
