Unbelievable! Cannon Homers Again!

Cannon has been amazing

Chip Cannon hit his league leading ninth home run of the Arizona Fall League on Tuesday. To go along with his nine home runs, Cannon is batting .400 this Fall and has an extended streak of multi-hit games. InsideTheDome talked with an Arizona based scout Tuesday evening regarding Cannon.

Cannon began the game by flying out to center field in his first at bat, but went right to work subsequently. In the bottom of the fourth inning he lined a soft single to left field on a 2-2 count.

However, the expected happened in the bottom of the ninth with Jesse Chavez on the mound. Cannon was the second batter in the inning, and on a 1-1 pitch he connected with the pitch to send it over the right field wall.

It was the second consecutive game Cannon hit a home run, and over his last six games, he has gone deep six times. He has hit a home run in six of his last nine games.

Cannon also has recorded at least two hits in six straight games, and is batting 12-for-23 during that span. In 16 total games he's batting .400 (24-60).

"He's been unbelievable," noted one scout in Arizona. "It's beyond what anyone expected."

"He's the talk of the league right now."

However, as consistent he has been hitting home runs, he's also as consistent in striking out. Cannon struck out once again on Tuesday, and raised his total to 19 this fall. He has fanned in five consecutive games and in 16 of his 19 games this fall.
