Ramirez Wins in Triple-A Debut

Syracuse, N.Y.--Ismael Ramirez, in his Triple-A debut, tossed six strong innings Thursday night, pitching the Syracuse SkyChiefs to a 4-2 win over the Pawtucket Red Sox in the International League....

Syracuse's rookie hurler surrendered a one-out solo homer to Corky Miller in the second and Jeff Bailey in the sixth. Ramirez (1-0) allowed seven hits over his six innings on the mound, striking out six without issuing a walk.

Dustin McGowan in his first appearance since his return from the Toronto Blue Jays struck out five of the seven batters he faced in two innings of relief for Syracuse (59-74). Francisco Rosario worked the ninth for his first save.

Charlie Zink (8-3) had a rough start on the mound for Pawtucket (64-69) as the SkyChiefs scored all their runs in the first inning.

The PawSox knuckleballer walked the first two SkyChiefs and Kevin Barker's single loaded the bases. Zink couldn't handle a hot comebacker off the bat of Chad Mottola that scored Wayne Lydon. Zink issued a bases-loaded walk to Adam Lind scoring Luis Figueroa. Curtis Thigpen reached on a fielder's choice scoring Barker and Sergio Santos singled to left to score Mottola.

Zink only allowed three more hits over the next five innings, walking a total of four over his six innings and striking out four
