The 28-year-old Fahrner had been playing this season with the Reading
Phillies, who are in Manchester for a three game series with the Fisher
Cats. The trade was completed less than an hour before New Hampshire took
on Reading at Merchantsauto.com Stadium Monday night as the Fisher Cats
claimed a 5-3 victory. Fahrner did not appear in the game, though he was in
uniform in the Fisher Cats bullpen.
He has been pitching for Reading all season, making 33 appearances and going
1-4 with three saves and a 3.38 ERA. He racked up 50 strikeouts in 45.1
innings pitched. He was originally selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in
the 23rd round of the 1999 draft out of Bradley.
He was signed by
Philadelphia this past off-season as a minor league free agent. His
addition puts the Fisher Cats roster at 22 active players, still two shy of
the Eastern League limit.
The Fisher Cats are also playing with just one catcher on the active roster at the moment.
