Scouts' Eye: Davis Romero

On Thursday the Toronto Blue Jays called up their crafty southpaw Davis Romero to the big leagues. Signed out of Panama in 1999, Romero has always intrigued scouts. After a superb 2006 season with New Hampshire and Syracuse, Romero has earned his promotion. We caught up with a scout that has seen Romero pitch several times for his assessment.

InsideTheDome: Can you give us a little scouting report on Romero on the mound? Scouts' Eye: Although Davis possessed four pitches in his arsenal, he mainly is a three-pitch pitcher. He throws a high-80s to low 90s fastball to go along with a solid changeup and curveball. He does have a slider in his repertoire, but is not a pitch he feels real comfortable throwing.
