After sitting out the second and third rounds of the draft, the Toronto Blue Jays selected RHP Brandon Magee, a senior, out of Bradley University in the fourth round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft.

Magee began his career as Bradley’s closer, but quickly developed into a frontline starter for the Bradley Braves. He is a tall and slender pitcher, that throws in the low 90s.

Magee went 8-4 with a 2.66 ERA in 14 starts with Bradley this season, compiling five complete games and three shutout victories. In 105 innings he issued just 28 walks and struck out 101 batters.

The 6’5, 190 pound right-hander was ranked the best player in the state of Illinois and entered the 2006 draft without being drafted previously. To go along with his solid fastball, he possesses a power slider. Magee also features a changeup in his repertoire and he is able to throw all his pitches for strikes.

Many will link Magee to Casey Janssen, a senior right-hander selected by Toronto in 2004 that rapidly moved up the system and reached the Major Leagues this season.
