Jays Assign Two to Minor League Camp

DUNEDIN- With minor league spring training games just days away, the Blue Jays sent two pitchers down to minor league camp Monday afternoon.

RHP Ryan Houston was assigned to Triple-A Syracuse. Houston made three appearanced with the Jays in spring training this month, and logged four innings, allowing just one hit and one run. The right-hander struggled with his control as he issued five walks, while striking out two batters.

RHP Vince Perkins was the second pitcher to be sent down. Perkins, who appeared in two games this spring, was assigned to Double-A New Hampshire. The right-hander allowed four runs and issued seven walks in 1.1 innings.

Houston is expected to begin the 2006 season in the bullpen with the Syracuse Sky Chiefs. Perkins, on the other hand, is on the bubble for a starting spot at Triple-A. If the numbers game do not work in his favor then the right-hander could return to New Hampshire to begin the season.
