BMLN: Roberts Continues to Hit; Lind Starting

Ryan Roberts

Monday was another pleasant day for the players from the Jays in the AFL. Ryan Roberts continued his hitting ways and Adam Lind had another multi-hit game and is bouncing back from a poor start.

Ryan Roberts stepped up to the plate in the top of the first inning with a runner on first base, but struck out on a called third strike, after fouling off the first two pitches of the at bat.

In the top of the third inning, Adam Lind singled on a ground ball to left field, and advanced to third on the next at bat when Adam Boeve doubled to right. However, Lind would be stranded at third base as Peoria lined into a double play the following at bat.

Ryan Roberts led off the top of the fourth inning and took three straight pitches for balls. After taking a fastball down the middle to put the count to 3-1, Roberts hit a fly ball home run over the left-center field wall, his third during the Arizona Fall League.

The Jays second baseman got on base once again in the top of the sixth, when he lined a first pitch fastball to center field. Both Roberts and Lind stepped to the plate in the top half of the seventh inning, with Lind drawing a walk on five pitches, and Roberts flying out to center field.

In the top of the ninth inning, Lind stepped to the plate one more time and lined a single to left-field on the first pitch. The outfielder finished the day 2-for-3 with a run scored and is hitting 5-for-9 with three runs scored over his last two games. Roberts, who went 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI, has gotten two hits in four of his last five games that he started.

In 12 games Lind is hitting .184 (7-38) with four runs scored and two runs batted in. Roberts has played in 13 games and is hitting .321 (17-53) with seven runs scored, three home runs and eleven runs batted in. He is second on the Saguaros in home runs and runs batted in, while fourth in batting average.
