Arizona Fall League Opens Up

Ryan Roberts

The minor league season has finished but some of the top prospects in the game are back playing baseball in the Arizona Fall League. InsideTheDome has the league covered and will be talking with all the Jays players who are playing in Arizona. The AFL opened up yesterday and the Peoria Saguaros, the team that features the six Blue Jays players opened up with a 14-2 loss.

Only one Blue Jay was in the starting lineup and that was second baseman Ryan Roberts. The infielder went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts hitting in the two-hole. Adam Lind was a defensive replacement in the bottom of the seventh inning and had two put outs. Guillermo Quiroz also came in as a substitute when he pinch hit in the top of the sixth inning. Quiroz struck out on a foul tip as a pinch hitter and ended the game in the ninth inning with a pop out to the short stop.

One pitcher for the Blue Jays made an appearance in the bottom of the seventh inning. Bubbie Buzachero came in with the bases loaded and just one out. Buzachero allowed a line single to the first batter he faced and later allowed a wild pitch for another run to cross the plate. Buzachero also pitched the eighth inning and issued two walks and a wild pitch to allow a run to score on ground out. The right-hander walked three batters in 1 2/3 innings of work, while allowing a hit and a run.

Right-hand pitcher Steve Andrade and catcher Erik Kratz are also on the Peoria roster representing the Toronto Blue Jays. Recommended Stories
