The New York Yankees claimed first baseman Eric Crozier off waivers from the Blue Jays on Tuesday and optioned him to Double-A Trenton.

The 26-year-old was hitting just .226 with 5 homers and 14 RBI in 37 games with Triple-A Syracuse. Crozier did not produce with Syracuse hitting just .114 (4-35) with runners in scoring positin. With RISP and two outs, Crozier had just one hit in seventeen at bats.

Crozier was obtained in a trade last summer and at the time many predicted he would take over first base for the club.
