Physical Description

Burdi has a strong, durable frame with some room to still add some muscle as he matures. He's broad shouldered and proportioned. He's not overly projectable but there's still some projection to work with.

Mechanics

Mechanics are going to be a question mark lingering over Burdi's head. His arm action is very rough and it can be seen even from the untrained eye that it could lead to some problems for him. He does repeat well, so it's not something that impacts his stuff or command. But, it may limit his durability down the road.

Fastball

Burdi is a power arm that also gets lot of heavy action on his fastball. He works at 91-94 mph, kicking it up to 95 now and then. The movement is outstanding and he's going to produce a lot of groundballs as a pro.

Slider

Burdi throws a short, tight slider and the feel is average with potential to be plus down the road. He throws it at 80-83 mph with late bite and traditional slider tilt.

Changeup

The changeup isn't a big part of Burdi's repertoire yet but he does show it now and then. It comes in at 78-82 mph and the arm action sells it fairly well.

Summation

Whoever takes Burdi is taking him purely for his live arm. They are gambling on his delivery or are surrendering to the idea that he may end up being a reliever long term. But, he's around the plate and has at least one quality secondary offering.

Draft Projection: 2nd round
